


Ms. Nameeta Prasad, Joint Secretary , Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change Government of India and Dr. A.A Mao, director of the Botanical Survey of India, Kolkata and member of the Botanical Survey Research, Advisory and Monitoring Committee (RAMC) recently visited the Zoological Survey of India, the Andaman and Nicobar Regional Center and the ZSI Regional Museum. They also visited the proposed site of the National Coral Reef Research Institute (NCRRI) at Beodnabad.
Dr. C.Sivaperumen, Scientist _ E and Officer in Charge gave a detailed presentation on the activities and achievements of ZSI Port Blair. The Joint Secretary pointed out that ZSI, the Andaman and Nicobar Regional Center contributes immensely to the knowledge of the faunal diversity of the terrestrial and marine ecosystems of these islands. In addition, he emphasized the continuous monitoring of coral reef ecosystems.
