A Mesmerizing island and a starting point of Port Blair, Chatham island is part of South Andaman, and it has connecting jetty for the Motor Vehicle Ferry through passenger commute from Bambooflat.

Chatham island bombarded by Japanese during second World War on 1942. Numerous of laymen or labour led to death because of bomb explosion.

Aerial view clearly states the Chatham island is connect with help of Chatham Bridge. Andaman & Nicobar Administration owned Government Saw Mill is currently operating on this island.

The main mainland -Island harbor is also here, name of the harbour is Haddo Harbour (Jetty).

Then the British tried to re-occupy the island and reconstructed it all over again. After independence, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first president of Free India visited here.

The Chatham Saw mill, established back in 1883, during British colonial period, was primarily used to meet the requirement of timber for Building houses, Guest house, Bridge, Dingy, Canoe, Boats, used for Ships, Handicrafts, Rampage and many more construction works in the island and sell wooden timber for trade.

The Britain’s motto clear seen they used the saw mill to convert huge quantities of timber for catering to the needs back in their own country.
