The Haddo vegetable market started in the year of 2016 few vegetable traders was unable to find places for their shop or stall at Junglighat Sunday market. Behind of Junglighat Senior Secondary School there is a huge crowd penetration for the Sunday Market, Especially for the Vegetable at lowest price. The Haddo Vegetable market is 80 meter distance far from Chatham Police Station
Most of the Vegetable traders are from the inter islands fewer are from Dundus Point, Sholbay, Guptapara and Manarghat. After paying for Boat, Ferry, Bus and Auto Fare/tickets if the Vegetable trader not getting places at Junglighat Sunday Market. Then he/she won’t get the right price and it won’t be fruitful for the trader.
If the trader get a place for his or her stall or shop at Junglighat Sunday market, the trader get good revenue after excluding all expenses. This attracted most of the vegetable sellers across Andaman islands and competition becomes worse.
So the major vegetable seller decide to start selling the vegetables at vacant place which is back side of quarters of “VAN VIKAS” which is back side of “VAN VIKAS BHAWAN” former Andaman Forest Cooperation Building and near to Haddo Fish market.
Now the vegetable sellers are facing few issues like there is no proper shop because, this market not recognize by the local administrators because it is unauthorized place actually not meant for Market place. In the rainy season the plastic sheets get torn.
The rain fall on dry vegetables like Capsicum, Potato, Garlic Onion, which turns the vegetable into wet and people avoid to buy the vegetable which is in wet condition, If govt or local governing bodies help us we can get sale imported vegetables- Vegetable vendor shared his view.
