
In honor of International Women’s Day, the South Andaman District Police organized a series of empowering events today under the leadership of Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District. The day began with a revitalizing yoga session, emphasizing the importance of harmony and balance in the journey towards empowerment. Attendees participated in different yoga poses, promoting both physical and mental well-being, crucial for the holistic development of women.
As part of the initiative “Apka Kanoon, Apke Dwaar” (Your Law, Your Doorstep), a special PowerPoint presentation was created for Women’s Day. This presentation highlighted laws aimed at the well-being and advancement of women. It was exhibited at various locations across the district including colleges, schools, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and Panchayats. Through this initiative, participants were educated about their rights and entitlements, empowering them to uphold their dignity and seek justice when needed.
The focus was on explaining the complexities of three new laws aimed at protecting women and children, with presentations conducted by senior officers and other members of the Police Department. In Andaman & Nicobar Islands, there are numerous accomplished women deeply involved in community welfare. During the “Naari Shakti” program, Smti Varsha Sharma, IPS, DIGP (L&O), recognized outstanding women with mementoes for their significant contributions, serving as inspirations for future generations.
A rally involving female police officers on motorcycles, symbolizing women’s freedom and resilience, was initiated by Ms. Isha Singh, IPS. The rally, which ended at Flag Point, received widespread acclaim from the public, showcasing the dedication of Andaman & Nicobar Police’s hardworking female personnel, who embody the aspirations of future generations of women in the region.

Smti Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District, expressed gratitude to all involved in making the event a success, stressing the importance of ongoing collaboration and advocacy to promote the rights and well-being of women and children in society, as per a press release from SP (SA).
