Following the announcement of the General Elections2024 by the Election Commission of India on 16/03/2024, the Model Code of Conduct has been immediately enforced. To regulate road shows and prevent inconvenience to the general public and commuters, the Election Commission of India has issued the following instructions:
- Prior permission must be obtained from the Competent Authority for conducting road shows.
- Road shows should, whenever possible, be scheduled on holidays or during non-peak hours, avoiding routes with major hospitals, trauma centers, blood banks, and heavily crowded markets, in accordance with court orders and local laws.
- The number of vehicles and participants in the road show must be informed in advance.
- The road show should not occupy more than half the road width to ensure the safety of the general public.
- The convoy of vehicles involved in the road show should be broken after every 10 vehicles, maintaining a gap of 100 meters.
- Safety measures for both the public and participants in the road show must be ensured. The use of firecrackers and firearms during road shows is strictly prohibited
- Banners carried by hand should not exceed the size of 6×4 feet.
- The use of loudspeakers should adhere to existing ECI instructions and comply with local laws and court orders.
- Animals are strictly prohibited from being displayed during road shows, and children, especially those in school uniforms, should not participate.
- Only one flag, measuring 1 ft x ½ft, per campaign vehicle is permitted with permission from the relevant Returning Officer.
- These instructions, as mentioned above, are mandated by the District Election Officer (SA) and must be strictly adhered to
